The Euromed Programme for Innovation and Technology (Medibtikar) supported the implementation of new instruments to improve the competitiveness and innovation of companies and countries and to strengthen the links between research and industry. The project directly contributed to the development of an innovation culture within SMEs and companies in the Mediterranean through its capacity building to private sector support organisations.
Medibtikar has enabled the region’s innovation and technology centres, Technoparks and incubators to develop innovative management of their service offer for SMEs and national innovation support strategies. Medibtikar also strengthened relations between R&D organisations and Mediterranean SMEs, while establishing strong links between the innovation actors themselves.
In order to finance innovation in the Mediterranean, ANIMA initiated the creation of the first networks of Business Angels in Morocco (Atlas BAN), Tunisia (Carthage BAN) and Jordan (Bedaya BAN) and prefigured an Investment Facility for innovative companies in the region which will be followed by the creation of the FARO fund.
