Med-Spring aimed to encourage and strengthen Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in research and innovation (R&I), focusing on regional scientific and technological cooperation, policy dialogue and monitoring of cooperation. Med-Spring targeted three major societal challenges: energy, food and the management of natural resources. The project was implemented by a consortium of 28 members, mainly public, such as research institutions, universities and ministries throughout the Mediterranean basin.
The project aimed to strengthen cooperation between researchers, SMEs and other stakeholders in order to facilitate networking and partnership cooperation in the framework of European research and innovation programmes.
In particular, Med-Spring has created a platform for dialogue and coordination between government institutions, research organisations, associations and NGOs that contribute to the integration of civil society in the institutional dialogue. Med-Spring has also supported synergies and networking to strengthen joint activities and cooperation between the EU and the Southern Mediterranean countries.
