Lebanon Innovate is a 42-month programme funded by the European Union with the aim of revitalising the Lebanese entrepreneurial ecosystem and productive sectors. The programme, based on a roadmap of 29 recommendations, encourages innovation while supporting intellectual property and knowledge transfer between the Lebanese industrial sector and academia. The project aims to enable the country to become a knowledge-based digital nation at the forefront of innovation.
More concretely, Lebanon Innovate helps to improve the competitiveness of the industrial sector, particularly the agri-food sector, healthcare, information and communication technologies (ICT) and the creative and cultural sectors. The project also aims to give stakeholders the means to create and share knowledge while commercialising technologies. Finally, it aims to establish links and exchanges with European countries and diaspora networks to access international markets by identifying the needs and opportunities of European industries and linking them with Lebanese innovations and research in order to create partnerships.
An intensive capacity-building programme of around 300 hours is also being organised, including group training, personalised coaching sessions and access to toolkits on a number of topics such as intellectual property protection policies, patents and competition law, the code of ethics, copyright and related rights, contractual practices, etc. These topics will be adapted to suit the participants’ preparation and previous experience. These themes will be adapted according to the participants’ preparation and previous experience.
