Published on 06 June 2018
ANIMA Investment Network, represented by Emmanuel Noutary, General Delegate, took part in the economic mission of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Métropole in Morocco from 2 to 4 May 2018, together with elected officials and representatives of the metropolis, Ville de Marseille and Marseille Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a delegation of companies federated by the Africa Link network.
This first mission in the Maghreb inaugurates the will of Marseilles territory to revitalise its economic cooperation with Maghreb and Africa, especially from Morocco. Africa Link has announced its launch in Morocco on the occasion of this mission and the metropolis, through its agency Provence Promotion, awarded two Moroccan investors who have recently invested in Provence: HPS and Medinnov Bioscience.
In terms of subsidiaries, the Maghreb is indeed the main business area of the metropolitan territory (1st Morocco, 2nd Tunisia and 3rd Algeria) and many major accounts are located in the African continent (CMA CGM, DAHER …). Many Moroccan and African companies have also invested in Provence (ex: IN’OYA Laboratories specialised in dermo-cosmetics products and winners of the Best African Entrepreneur Award in France in 2011).
The delegation participated in the 6th edition of Hub Africa which honoured the African economic diaspora at the service of the continent’s development, during which companies were able to participate in business meetings organised by the platform. The delegation also met the Director of Development of AMDIE, the agency in charge of investments and exports in Morocco, as well as the Regional Investment Centre (CRI) of Casablanca, in order to consider collaboration in cross-location of companies between the two territories, and technical cooperation between economic institutions.
During the conferences, Moroccan and metropolitan speakers presented their respective assets to build “twin hubs” of innovation and business between Europe and Africa.
The mission continued with a meeting in La Fabrique located on the roof of Casablanca’s Technopark with the stakeholders of the Moroccan innovation ecosystem, during which Emmanuel Noutary had the opportunity to present THE NEXT SOCIETY, the initiative aiming to support innovators from the Middle East and North Africa region initiated by ANIMA with the support of the European Union and operated in Morocco with the support of StartUp Maroc and R&D Maroc.
